Kanye West Declares Himself Unbeatable in Verzuz Battle
Kanye West has made headlines once again, this time claiming that no artist can beat him in a Verzuz battle. The iconic Chicago rapper made a surprise appearance at Deon Cole’s comedy show at Hollywood Improv, where he engaged with the audience and made his bold declaration. When asked if he considers anyone a worthy opponent, West simply shook his head and said, “Nobody,” accompanied by his trademark smirk.
To support his claim, Kanye referenced his sold-out performances at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium, where he showcased numerous hits but left out major tracks like “Gold Digger” and “Touch the Sky.” This conversation took place while he was discussing the upcoming deluxe edition of his project, Bully, which is still being finalized. He humorously agreed to let Deon Cole record an interlude for the album, reminiscent of comedic skits from his earlier works.
The concept of Kanye West participating in a Verzuz battle has sparked extensive fan debates over the years. Potential contenders have included heavyweights like Drake, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, and Future. In 2021, Swizz Beatz revealed that Kanye was ready to face Drake in the Verzuz series, but the matchup never occurred due to their feud at the time.
Among fans, the only catalog many believe could rival Kanye's is that of his former mentor and collaborator, JAY-Z. Recently, on his podcast, Joe Budden and his co-hosts engaged in a debate about who would win in a Verzuz battle between the two. While opinions varied, Antwan “Ish” Marby suggested that Kanye could pull off a victory, stating, “I still think Hov is the greatest rapper ever, but when you getting up there with 20 bangers, hits… yes, Kanye can get him out of there.” Conversely, Brian “B.Dot” Miller argued in favor of JAY-Z, insisting he would edge out Kanye in lead songs. Budden ultimately agreed with this perspective.
