Drake Reveals 'Iceman' Release Date After Epic Ice Structure Stunt - HipHopDX

Drake Announces Release Date for Highly Anticipated 'Iceman' Album

April 22, 2026

The wait is almost over for fans of Drake, as the OVO Sound superstar has officially announced the release date for his ninth studio album, Iceman. The album will be available on May 15, following a creative reveal that involved a massive ice structure erected in Toronto.

On April 21, fans chipped away at the ice to uncover a hidden folder, discovered by Twitch streamer Kishka, who filmed the unveiling outside Drake’s “Embassy” mansion. Inside the freeze-proof folder was a magazine styled after Frank Ocean’s Boys Don’t Cry, featuring the announcement: “ICEMAN MAY 15,” along with images of Sexyy Red, Drake’s father Dennis Graham, and Pinocchio, a character that has sparked various theories throughout the album's rollout. In a generous gesture, Kishka received a bag of cash from Drake for his efforts in revealing the album date.

Drake later confirmed the release date on his Instagram. This announcement comes almost a year after he began teasing Iceman through livestreams and singles, including “What Did I Miss?,” “Which One” featuring UK rap star Central Cee, and the Yeat and Julia Wolf-assisted “Dog House.”

During a concert in Australia last year, Drake hinted at the album, stating, “When the time is right, I’ll be back with another album, a one-on-one conversation with y’all that you need to hear.” While specific details about Iceman remain limited, OVO insider Mal has praised the album, claiming it features “some of the best rapping I’ve ever heard from Drake.” He hinted that the album will clarify Drake's standing in the industry, particularly in light of his rivalry with Kendrick Lamar.

Iceman will follow Drake’s collaborative album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with nearly 250,000 sales in its first week.
