Black Thought & Mach-Hommy Have A Collab Album On The Way - HipHopDX

Black Thought and Mach-Hommy Unite for Upcoming Album

March 19, 2026

In an exciting development for hip-hop fans, Black Thought and Mach-Hommy, two of the genre's most formidable MCs, are set to release a full-length collaboration album. This announcement was made by Mach-Hommy in his latest newsletter, where he hinted at several projects in the pipeline, including his work with August Fanon and Ras G, alongside the highly anticipated collaboration with Black Thought.

While specific details and a release date remain undisclosed, the duo first teased their project in a 2024 interview with Pigeons & Planes. Black Thought expressed the importance of collaborating with artists who share a similar vision, saying, "Sometimes I send cats’ verses back because it’s like, I don’t believe it enough. So when you find somebody that’s on that same type time, it’s going to best serve the culture for y’all to collab." Mach-Hommy excitedly responded, "Oh yeah, we’re building, I got a folder for you."

Their chemistry has already been showcased in the past, notably on "Copy Cold" from Mach’s 2024 album #RICHAXXHAITIAN and Your Old Droog‘s 2020 track "Pravda," featuring El-P and Tha God Fahim. Mach-Hommy reflected on the inception of "Copy Cold," revealing that he had shelved the idea for a decade, only to find himself in contact with Black Thought years later, eager to create together.

The admiration between the two is mutual. During a 2023 appearance on Questlove’s podcast, Black Thought named Mach-Hommy among the five rappers deserving of more recognition, praising his unique blend of old-school sensibility and modern edge. As the announcement of the Black-Hommy collaboration unfolds, it marks Mach-Hommy’s first album in two years following #RICHAXXHAITIAN and comes after Black Thought’s 2023 project, Glorious Game, with El Michels Affair. Additionally, Black Thought appears to be preparing for a sequel to his successful 2022 album Cheat Codes, produced by Grammy-winning Danger Mouse.
